Introduction to the Build
Welcome to the ultimate guide for creating the perfect ! If you are tired of building the same old square wooden houses above ground, it is time to try something truly magical and cozy. This aesthetic survival base is tucked safely into the side of a grassy hill, providing excellent camouflage while delivering an incredibly vibrant and inviting interior. The heavy use of pink cherry wood combined with lush green foliage makes this build an absolute masterpiece for players who love the cottage-core or fantasy aesthetic.
Choosing the perfect location is the most important step before starting a . You will need a biome that features rolling hills or steep terrain. A Cherry Grove biome is obviously the best choice, as it naturally provides all the pink wood and petals you will need right outside your front door. However, building this into the side of a mountain in a lush Meadow or a classic Plains biome works beautifully as well, creating a striking contrast between the bright pink wood and the green grass.
Beyond its jaw-dropping visual appeal, this hidden base is incredibly practical for your day-to-day survival needs. Being built into the earth naturally protects your home from creepers and phantoms. Despite looking small from the outside, the interior can be carved out as deep as you want, giving you unlimited space for storage rooms, enchanting setups, and super-smelters. Let’s grab our shovels and cherry wood, follow this step-by-step tutorial, and start crafting your new underground sanctuary!

The Ultimate Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these 5 comprehensive phases to construct your . Take your time during the terraforming phase, as an uneven hill can ruin the iconic circular entrance of the build!
Phase 1: Terraforming & Foundation
The first step to building a hobbit hole is finding the right hill. Once you have a solid hill with a sheer drop of at least 6 to 7 blocks, you need to carve out the foundation. Dig straight into the dirt and stone, hollowing out a spacious interior room. Do not worry about making the inside perfectly square; organic, rounded rooms actually fit the hobbit aesthetic much better. Ensure the front face of the hill is flattened out so you have a clean canvas to build your grand circular entrance.
Phase 2: Walls & Structural Framing
Now it is time to build the iconic exterior. Use your 51 Stripped Cherry Logs to construct a massive, perfect circle embedded right into the face of the hill. This stripped pink wood provides a beautifully smooth, magical framing. Inside the hill, line the walls of your carved-out room with 53 Magenta Terracotta blocks. The terracotta perfectly matches the cherry theme while adding a solid, cozy texture to the living space.
Phase 3: Flooring & Ceiling Details
With the walls secured, focus on the interior floors and ceilings. Dig out the floor and lay down your 129 Cherry Planks. This brightens up the underground room significantly. For the ceiling, you don't want bare stone or dirt falling on your head! Use your 55 Cherry Trapdoors and 9 Cherry Slabs to create a textured, highly detailed ceiling. Using trapdoors on ceilings is an amazing building trick because they only take up a fraction of a block, preserving the vertical headspace of your room.
Phase 4: Exterior Decor & Nature
A hobbit hole must blend into its environment. Step outside and bring the facade to life! Drape your 15 Azalea Leaves and 25 Cherry Leaves over the top of the circular entrance so they hang down like natural vines. Scatter your 60 Pink Petals across the grass surrounding the entrance. Finally, place mossy cobblestone around the base to give the build an ancient, overgrown feel. If you have a Spore Blossom, hide it under the leaves above the doorway to create magical green falling particles!
Phase 5: Furniture & Lighting
Finally, complete your survival house by adding essential functional blocks. Place down your 20 Chests, 5 Furnaces, Blast Furnaces, and Smokers along the terracotta walls. In the center of the room, lay down your Magenta Carpets and place your Magenta Bed. To properly light the underground space and stop mobs from spawning, strategically place your 3 Lanterns and cluster your 6 Purple Candles on countertops. Your magical base is now 100% complete and ready for survival!
Customization Ideas
Once you've finished the main tutorial, make it your own! Here are a few ways to customize this build:
- Change the Wood Palette: If pink isn't your favorite color, swap out the Cherry Logs for Spruce or Dark Oak, and change the terracotta to brown or grey for a classic, Lord of the Rings-style Hobbit Hole.
- Expand with Tunnels: The beauty of building underground is limitless expansion. Dig a tunnel at the back of the room leading to a massive indoor farm, a villager trading hall, or a direct stairway to your diamond mine.
- Add a Custom Chimney: Go to the top of the hill above your base and build a small chimney using bricks and a campfire. It will look like smoke is rising from the grassy hill itself!
